Your CV is your opportunity to differentiate yourself from the rest, often I see CVs from awesome candidates that simply don’t do them justice.
I’ve put down my top 5 things to consider when getting your CV ready to start applying for roles.
1- Personalise – Think about the role you want, what skills will the manager want to see, and are these clear on your CV.
2- Rewrite your Profile – This is an opportunity to sell yourself, and often the first thing someone sees. This is your opportunity to talk about your key skills, what makes you special, and projects you knocked out of the park.
3 - Think about Key Skills – Make sure these are front and centre of your CV, again think about what value these will bring to a potential employer. But being selective here is important, adding some detail around your core competency is much more valuable than a list of every technology you have ever worked with.
4- Clean Format – Keep it professional and simple, less is more. Let your skills and words do the talking.
5- Delete what doesn't NEED to be there – Most people simply add their last job to their CV when looking to move but looking back at what’s no longer relevant and taking it out/making it just a summary will make your more recent experience stand out far more.
If you want a second opinion on your CV or just some general guidance, please get in touch and I would be happy to help.
